The GERS debate, whilst healthy and engaging, is still largely stuck in an endless loop that is framed within orthodox and illiterate economic language. Discussing economics with one eye shut leaves voters misinformed, when they deserve a more honest and robust analysis of our economic systems....

  1. This sort of article really doesn't help.

    Scotland's government deficit is a problem for as long as they continue to use GBP. They don't own the Bank of England, and wouldn't be getting any control of it is they walked out of the UK.

    And unfortunately the Scottish Reserve Bank people make Elvira Nabiullina look like an MMT fan, obsessing as they do about foreign currency reserves.
