Fly like an eagle, Darya Dugina — Pepe Escobar

If Pepe Escobar didn't state it explicitly enough, here it is clearly: Ukraine, acting as a proxy for NATO (read US and UK) has launched a war of terror against Russia. Along with other recent incidents striking into Russia/Crimea, this appears to be the vaunted counter-offensive. Now the question is what will Russia do about it. While the chief concern of most is revenge, the reality is that this is looking like a new tactic, based on an old strategy, undermine Russian public opinion to overthrow Putin. The likely result, however, is that it will enrage Russian against the perps. See Andrei Martyanov's post below, for example.

  1. Not Putin's brain, but a pain in the ass from the ultra-nationalist side of Russian politics.

By killing his daughter, who was more popular, this helps the nationalist cause.

    Hawks helping hawks.

  5. If I were a Russian hawk, I'd have sacrificed the father and have the daughter serve as a symbol.

A cynical maneuver to force Putin's hand.

  7. Putin has f*cked this war up royally. One thing that should be crystal clear after Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, etc. If you go to war, go to win. Putin will continue this fucking bullshit SMO operation, and Russia will die from 1000 cuts.

  8. If you go to war, go to win.

PCR has recommended that strategy. Going slow gives time to organize a war of attrition.
Putin has lost the propaganda war in the west, and is not getting any laurels for trying to avoid civilian casualties.
