Has the Ukraine Conflict Driven U.S. Government Officials Crazy? (No, Russophobia and Sinophobia drove them crazy decades ago. Russia and Taiwan crises are just a manifestation of that. Ironically, The US has morphed into what it is supposedly opposing.)

It is true that Cory Bernardi (the bloke speaking for SkyNews: the Fox News of Australia) is a Rightwing nutter.
ReplyDeleteBut, to be honest, I mostly agree with what he says.
This is another example of the failures of the Left in developed nations: the idea, deeply entrenched among many Leftists, that the truth-content of arguments is irrelevant and that only how those arguments fit one's preferred narrative matters. If it contradicts one's narrative, then the argument must be declared (not proven) false. If it does fit one's narrative, the argument must be defended, no matter how crappy.
Applied to that clip: I am willing to wager money that Leftists will dismiss what Bernardi says there on account, not of its truth, but because Bernardi is a Rightwing nutter.
Moreover, the fact Bernardi says those things will be used against any Lefty saying the same. That's the case of Greenwald, whom Bernardi mentions: when Greenwald was giving the Republicans, hell he was the hero of every American Lefty; the moment he told the truth about American Lefties he turned into a traitor.
Folks: that a deranged person yells "fire!" because voices in her head tell them so, does not prove that there is no fire.
The more you deny the truth, which is rather evident, the more you turn people off and the more they shift to the Right.
There is no left or right, only adherence to an imaginary package of narratives (ideology). Social media makes these echo chambers an order of magnitude worse.
ReplyDeletee.g. Ideologues refer to a 'capitalist' or 'socialist' economy. Non-ideologues refer to it as a mixed economy.
e.g. Some people want to ride a chariot to Heaven. Some mistake the chariot for Heaven. Some don't believe there is a chariot. The Leftists you're referring to, mistake the chariot for Heaven. Of those three groupings, they are the #1 lost cause.
