The U.S. Is Preparing Its Response to the “Short-Sighted” Strategy of OPEC+ — Yves Smith

The US is having a hissy over the OPEC+ production cut. Not a good look.
Some congress-critters are actually suggesting that the US seize Saudi assets in the US.

  1. “Some congress-critters are actually suggesting that the US seize Saudi assets in the US.”

The Empire is losing the game, so it steals the other players’ pieces off the board.

    Pathetic.

Regarding OPEC, the empire may seek revenge by attacking on Saudi Arabia, and blaming it on Iran, thereby setting the two nations at each other’s throats.

The USA punished Iran for its 1979 Revolution by having Iraq invade. The USA supplied Iraq, while Israel supplied Iran. The eight-year-war cost well over a million lives. Later the USA destroyed Iraq, and murdered the USA’s puppet, Saddam Hussein.

The world will be a better place after the USA collapses.

  2. Historically, the Saudis have been the #1 saboteurs of the OPEC cartel, rendering it ineffective for much of its existence. But times have changed.

  3. Peter Pan,

You have that exactly backwards. This headline and quotes are from a 2019 article in Bloomberg.

Saudi Arabia Signals It’s Had Enough of OPEC+ Quota Cheats

.Riyadh cut deeper to offset higher output from other members

.Iraq, Nigeria, Kazakhstan and Russia among OPEC+ key cheaters

For the last year, Saudi Arabia has largely turned a blind eye to cheaters within the OPEC+ alliance, cutting its own output more than agreed to offset over-production from the likes of Iraq and even Russia. Now, Riyadh’s had enough.

  4. Follow the history of OPEC since its inception. The Saudis were the #1 cheaters.
