He might have had to do quite a lot of math at Holy Cross -- that sometimes is the way with those programs. I would not draw a straight line from formal training to the ability to apply reason to intellectual problems of any variety, although a formal scientific training is the high road to such thinking. Still, the main qualification seems to be an openness to admitting to what one does not know, rather than formal training per se (not questioning the merits of a background in Finance, say, or engineering, though).

The lipid hypothesis would never have taken root without parables. There wouldn't be a replication crisis without belief.
And we saw through Covid that parables were paramount.
Fauci is Jesuit trained from birth… he has a BA in Classics from Holy Cross…

Science trained people DO NOT reason anything… they apply functional equations taught to them didactically to solve material problems…
