Matt Franko: Last night I watched The Young Turks and they talked about a balanced budget and I emailed them and explained that balancing the budget is not a progressive idea. I also asked them to contact Mike Norman, Bill Mitchell, Randy Wray, Warren Mosler, or anyone at the Levy Institute. I am asking you and Tom Hickey if you will both try to contact The Young Turks and encourage them to learn about MMT. They are good people, but I doubt they really understand economics.
G,
I believe Mike may have the acquaintance of Cenk.
It seems that many progressives suffer from the "taxpayer on the hook" fallacy that we are here to lay waste to.
Mike has indicated that he is continuously pitching a high end macro economics news analysis/debate cable show to the industry.
Mike has indicated no takers so far but I think it would be a great show right now.
People are really starting to focus on these issues and I cant help but think that if Mike could produce the show he wanted, the audience would just build and build as the austerity and unjust outcomes continue to build and build...
Resp,
I like how he speaks with determination and passion about something that average Americans used to consider boring. Always riveting performances. He has the capacity to do for economics what Stewart did for politics.
Mike, Great interview. I particularly liked the emphasis on a failure of moral leadership. That really resonates with the actions of the Obama Administration. From the beginning it's emphasized short-term pragmatism above all else. And I think that explains much of its failure.
