Boehner: "We're the next Europe"

Totally stupid and irresponsible.

Here are some of Boehner's comments from his interview on CNBC with Maria Bartiromo:

Boehner: "We're the next Europe."

Totally stupid and irresponsible comment. No distinction made about European countries being like states in the U.S. They can't issue currency. The United States doesn't have that problem. Intentionally misleading and fear mongering.

Boehner: "SS, Medicare and Medicaid will bankrupt our nation."

How? Payments to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are nothing more than accounting entries. Keystrokes. How does that bankrupt us? If we have the real resources to care for seniors, we can't be bankrupt by entering a number on a spreadsheet. It's preposterous.

Boehner: "There is no money left."

You can't run out of government fiat. It's issued by decree. Again, just an accounting entry.

Peter Schiff: you think you can just print money and fool the markets? Market is gonna demand higher interest rate.

That's exactly what he said to James Galbraith: you think you can just print money? It's a good thing that Europe can't print money.
turns out it is not a very good thing

This guy needs a website like "Bushisms" given his never ending search for the dumbest comment in the cosmos. So I just sit back and enjoy the show. The funniest thing is that the whole package of absurdity is tied together by a name he insists on pronouncing "Bayner". It' just too good.

The sad thing is they know this is lies. (The ones that don't know should know, and are just as dishonest.) It's just a convenient weapon against the social safety net. If MMT were widely accepted they'd use some other cudgel to bash Social Security.
