The Un-FDR Doth Protest Too Much.

Commentary by Roger Erickson

[To "Compromise" With the GOP, Obama Promises NO Fiscal Stimulus - If They'll Only Let Him Cut Middle Class Benefits]

As Warren Mosler says, Obama is now officially an [anti-] hero to progressives! :(

Forget all you know about the confluence of currency operations, MMT, white-collar criminology and policy - this is now squarely about treason-operations and fraud-operations.

Forget the Kenyan birth certificate, and start looking for ties to the Koch family's John Birch Society, to Robert Sterling Clark or to some other, indirect B[ank] Business Plot, since banking has taken over nearly every other form of business.

Either that or Obama is simply naive as a post, and not ready to lead anything bigger than a scout troop.

You can nearly imagine the negotiations.

Obama: "Please? Pleeeeze, please please please? Can I cut 'em? Huh? Can I cut 'em NOW! Oh, I wanna cut those middle class benefits SO BAD! Come on. Lemme do it. Please, please, please, please?"

What next? Did Obama lean over and whisper into Boehny's ear, that "I'll have more leeway to cut further AFTER we get started cutting."

Honestly. You have to wonder what's holding Boehner back. Is it actual fear that Obama actually wants to do TOO much of what the GOP lobby only wants a bit of. After all, the OLD GOP didn't want to destroy the USA, only permanently rule it. Even for crude, callous people, there's a difference between breaking a horse and actually killing it before it gets you to town!  Maybe Boehner's actually frozen in fear that Obama will pull a Tom Cruise and start jumping up and down on the furniture, while professing his undying love for cutting middle class benefits. That would be unsettling and tragic to actually witness, even if no longer unimaginable.

In a disoriented fashion, you can almost imagine feeling a bit sorry for the GOP leadership.

Yet any GOP-sympathy is nothing akin to the tears shed for the US electorate. Only way to spare that poor horse from continued beating is to vote out 100% of incumbent politicians. What will it take to do that? Do we have to rotate out 100% of the electorate? How did things come to this?

At this point, I'd willingly swap illegal aliens 1 for 1 - no background checks - against the alien crackpots currently inhabiting the Congress and Administration. Anyone who wasn't raised on Corporate Welfare has to be better than this lot.

Obama won't cut SS unless the GOP agrees to raise taxes, which would seriously enrage their base and lead to primary challenges for incumbents voting for it. Obama could probably propose abolishing SS and Medicare in exchange for a progressive tax hike, i.e., a hike on the wealthy, and the GO P would refuse.

When the inmates are running the asylum, we're reduced to watching a catfight between a sociopath and a paranoid schizophrenic ... while wildly guessing in vain attempts to follow their logic.

Might as well try to pin the tail on the donkey - or even an elephant - while blindfolded after being spun through primaries!

You don't suppose Boehner, Obama and Rubin gather at night over Scotch, just to laugh outrageously at how they're owning and using the worker ants?

There's more truth to this than most suspect.
