Most of Those Outraged by Obamacare Enjoy Big Taxpayer Subsidies Themselves (via Moyers & Company)
Why do conservatives have such a visceral hatred of a market-based expansion of health care coverage once championed by the Heritage Foundation – a scheme that their last presidential candidate called an expression of “the ultimate conservatism…

Tom, Obamacare has grave shortcomings, which makes it currently worth less than nothing to me. And I mean less than nothing to me. See Michael Olenick: Comprehensive Review of ObamaCare Plans Reveals Not Only High Cost for Atrocious Coverage, but Also Apparent Violations of ACA Requirements and also Michael Olenick: Obamacare Will Lead Me Either to Get Divorced or Leave the US

Given that currently I have a very limited income, even if I could afford the Obamacare premiums, I definitely cannot afford the copays and deductibles.

So for me, it is single payer or nothing.

I think that the ACA will either be repealed if the GOP gets in with a return to the previous system, which the public was pretty overwhelmingly against, or it will be amended in the direction of single payer.

IN any case, the US will eventually get single payer (and allow the rich to purchase "Cadillac" private plans like Germany). since this is the only viable option. It's just a question of how fast this moves forward. I don't think it is viable to go back to square one now.

Tea Party participants, in particular, were very focused on those who claim “rights” in the form of government services, without taking responsibility for themselves.

What moral right do the banks and so-called creditworthy have to steal the purchasing power of the poor?

In a word, NONE!

I should also add, that in order to be eligible for food stamps, or medicaid, you have to be close to destitution - in other words have absolutely no savings. There are many faulty premises in the thought processes both the religious right, and the conservatives (to which class, even 90% of elected Democrats belong!)

Hard for me to judge without doing more research but back in 2001 I bought a Cadillac plan on my own for around $480 a month. At the time I was after essentially the most expensive plan I could find... the reasons for doing that I don't want to go into.

I got onto the exchange to see what was now being offered even though I have employer based coverage now. I found the premium plan was only $420 a month for me which seems pretty good after all these years.

F.,

Here is S Kelton from a recent tweet: "So much attention is paid to the harmful effects of inflation, yet wage deflation annihilates purchasing power too."

maybe the 'purchasing power' you seem to keep thinking is/was 'stolen' was not stolen it was from deflation and you just think it was 'stolen' as it has some how disappeared in your view...

Franko,

Our corrupt money system is like a barbed arrow; it wounds via inflation AND deflation.

Money should be SPENT, not lent into existence. Both fiat and common stock can be so created. But if we are to have banks then they MUST, for ethical as well as systemic stability reasons, be 100% private.
