Are social, political and economic thought are inherently independent of each other? Only if social, political and economic realities are independent of each other, which, of course, they are not. Such distinctions are conceptual rather than real, and they can be deceptive.
This is a point of contention between economic liberalism along with its contemporary manifestation as neoliberalism and Marxian analysis.
