Dan Kervick — A Proper Pile of Piketty Posts

Over the past few weeks I have written several pieces on Thomas Piketty’s Capital in the Twenty-First Century. It is likely that there are more to come. But here is a convenient round-up of the posts so far, with permalinks:
Rugged Egalitarianism
A Proper Pile of Piketty Posts

Is there anything else going on in the world of econ besides Piketty?

Piketty seems to be occupying stage center at the moment. "Trending," as they say.

What I see otherwise is a lot of uncertainty. Is the US recovery on track? Is the EZ risking deflation? Is China decelerating and what kind of a landing can be anticipated.

Of course, the other big news is the situation in Ukraine and how this will shake out economically. More uncertainty.

While the consensus is that the global economy is slowly improving, any of these factors could have a negative impact globally.

So we are sort of in limbo right now, waiting to see how events unfold.

I've been trying to work on other topics too. But when I check out the various economics blogs I follow, most of what I find strikes me as rather boring and redundant these days. Nobody is expecting much from politicians for the next three years, so the policy debates seem to have ground down to a virtual halt.
