Tom, how are they stupid if they can do and say what they want with impunity? They've called out the legal system, our government, the justic dept and got away with it. Even threatened to kill them. Nothing.
The Waco incident was quite different since there were children involved. I think the Feds did the right thing with a show of overwhelming force, but as they say, things went bad.
That may well have been the reason that it was decided not use bring up overwhelming force, which probably would have resulted in a blood bath with the militia wiped out if they started shooting, as they may well have, being the crazy people they are.
As it is, the Feds have everyone there profiled with pictures, extensive background files, and documentation of the incident. Certainly enough to prosecute if they choose to do so.
Law enforcement really, really doesn't like weapons pointed at it, and even if there is no legal action taken now as a result of it, they are on the priority list.
At the very least, all the people involved are now on the list and can look forward to being under surveillance for the rest of their lives.
The government will hopefully turn the focus of the media to the wackos in the group to remove legitimacy from their complaints and distract the public from their grievances. It will give the G-men space to clean up like they did for the occupiers and have everyone on board. They could probably even have a big Janet Reno/Reagan style shootout and everyone will smile knowing it was necessary, and feel good that justice was done, only a little blood spilled to rid the nation of some of the the most dangerous mentally ill, impoverished and oppressed in one quick, almost painless action. All carefully scripted with a tight narrative, of course, leaving enough room for Dems and Republicans to spin it into advantage during this midterm election. Sick, but true.

I am not sure it is over, Mike. These idiots seem bent on pushing it to the bitter end.
I assume the feds are trying to avoid some Waco debacle where they end up taking the blame for actions of the lunatics.
