Many of the country's most taxing economic problems -- including poverty, rising inequality, falling mobility, and the decline of middle-class living standards -- can be tackled simply by paying people more, according to the paper. From what I have heard, in the wake of raises to the minimum wage, other wages go up, because, after all, other jobs are proportionally more valuable than minimum wage jobs. The current move to raise minimum wages, while it may not lead to huge raises generally, seems like a step in the right direction.
