Trust grows from deep and enduring commitments, and the experience of reliability in action. In 2014 America, most relationships are commercial and transitory; most social groups are now networks and relationship-building is "networking". The neoliberal culture of surfaces and hedonic experience-massing isn't conducive to trust.
Keeping rates at 0% after savers have been trained for decades to expect at least 5% and now they have the rug pulled out from under them doesn't build trust in institutions. .
A lack of competence in institutions doesn't build trust in them either. ..
I think there has been trust increasing in technology.... GPS, EMAIL, ATM, ecommerce, ie 'machines' sad because they are made by people....
That's what trusting in Ayn Rand nihilism does for you.
