FEC just ruled that parties can now raise twice as much cash by earmarking contributions for national conventions

Methane is one of the most powerful greenhouse gasses. And one mine in the United States (near four corners-ariz-nm-colo-utah) produces 10% of all methane emissions in the united states. 10%! And it has since 2003. In a real baffling move, instead of closing the methane mine at the four-corners in the southwest of the united states, the EPA decided to reduce the CO2 from a coal plant in the region which will have a negligible impact on world climate.
So if you simply compared the cost and benefits, the cost is ridiculously low to end emissions from the mine compared to the electric plant and the result has a far greater impact on climate. So why, right?
For one it isn't popular with Dems who have an agenda on how to deal with climate change, and any deviation from that plan to reduce CO2 emissions is treated with enormous hostility. You are a 'skeptic' or you are just too stupid... no real science, of course.
As it turns out when you get past the name calling, if you check and see who owns the power plant that was restricted, it was a republican supporting company while the methane leaking mine is owned by a Democrat supporters.
So you can see why Obama's EPA is big on enforcing pollution standards for the plant but not the mine, even though the mine is a serious threat while the plants weren't. It isn't for public policy, it isn't to support "climate change," it is old fashioned Chicago politics.
Pick your issue and there is money to be divided. Pick who you are going to enforce against and more money sloshes in. Trade favors in exchange for prosecuting your competitors and even more money pours in. Obama is no different than any other politician, he has just been more blantant in his corruption and has taken the corruption, shakedowns, and political prosecutions to levels people never imagined possible. But now the republicans will feel emboldened and learn from his methods... So don't worry about the FEC ruling, it is small potatoes.
