Matt Damon on Warring and Slaving...

Video below from a while back where actor Matt Damon tries to explain the "warring and slaving" or "rations" point-of-view to an interviewer from the libertarian ("wages and debt") ReasonTV.

The ReasonTV gal is taking the side of the "wages and debt" cohort and so naturally assumes that Damon does his acting job under some form of coercion, while Damon tries to explain to her that he doesn't do acting under coercion.
Damon: "So you think job insecurity is what makes me work hard?"
Damon goes on to naturally advocate for tenure (permanent rations) for teachers, which would eliminate at least one type of coercion for these of his fellow "warring and slaving" members of mankind.
Damon: "Why else would you take a shitty salary and really long hours ... unless you really loved to do it?"

So we can see these two just talking past one another as they do not understand who they are talking to and how the other person is "wired" (FD: metaphor).

Future policy should recognize these two distinct cohorts within mankind and at least attempt to accommodate both.
