Although the United States, in the words of columnist Nicholas Kristof, is “the most powerful colossus in the history of the world,” it lags significantly in quality of life for its citizens. In the Social Progress Index 2015 the U.S. does not make the top 10, or even top 15. The global study measured “basic human needs,” “foundations of wellbeing” and opportunity.Still #1 in GDP though. :o
Overall, the U.S comes in at 16th, and some indices are particularly startling.

Uncontrolled immigration... leads to chaos...
Net immigration to Canada is higher... why aren't we in chaos?

US is ranked 28th, Canada 9th.
But what does this mean? That the US is a hellhole?

For a significant portion of the population. Many are already in the hole and a lot are teetering on the edge.
Russia is ranked 40 on that list. Would that mean they are proportionately worse off and/or as dissatisfied?
Whether a country is trending up or down is also important.
Bob, give it time. Give it time.
The left is dead. Reddit's r/communism just banned free speech as Bourgeousie decadence and Sweden has proposed laws to ban any criticism of EU immigration policy.
How does that fit on their HDI?
Youtuber Pewdiepie is exiled to Italy cause his videos are banned by the Swedish government. All of these indexes are biased as their is cultural bias against saying you are unhappy in Scandinavia.
The reality is the world is still in a worsening global economic depression and heading toward extinction via ocean acidification in this century.
People are more worried about governments borrowing "credit" than living on borrowed time via fossil fuels.
Indeed Septeus, and you've given me more reason to be skeptical of these indexes.
