The "Great Game" aside, my takeaway from these articles about China's 5-year plan to build infrastructure is that climate change is a lost cause. The manufacture of concrete and steel generates a lot of carbon. Russia is building pipelines to supply Asia with even more carbon. Throwing up a few solar panels and wind generators will not change that.
