From Pepe's FB page this morning, quoting an anonymous source: Germany accused the United States of trying to stop the Nordstream 2 pipeline of Russia to the EU so that the US can export their liquid natural gas to the EU making the EU dependent on the United States.”
The new sanctions against Russia basically amount to telling the EU to buy expensive US gas instead of cheap Russian gas. The Germans and the Austrians basically told the Americans to buzz off.
The source; “That spells out the end of NATO if a trade war between the EU and the United States takes place. The premeditated shooting down of this Syrian plane can be viewed as a form of distraction to get Germany in line by having a war break out in the Middle East.”
That ties in with this article about how the outlook for U.S. oil and gas is grim: "Producers are losing $0.33 on every dollar in the red hot Permian basin shale plays. Oops. ... Shale gas and tight oil companies have shown consistent negative cash flow since the shale revolution began. Investors continue to pour capital into them in their desperate search for short-term yield in a zero-interest rate world." . There was "a surge in U.S. oil exports to almost 1 million barrels per day in recent weeks. The Journal calls lifting the crude oil export ban that made this possible “a policy triumph.” What the editorial fails to mention is that exports actually fell after the ban was lifted, and only increased because of Nigerian production outages. ... Nigerian production is now increasing so look for U.S. crude exports to decline."
List of US military bases being built in Syria - 5) #Tabqa near #Raqqa 4) Khabrat al-Zaqf near #Iraq 3) Tanf near Iraq 2) Sabit 1) Rmeilan. The Tabqa base is where the SDF held the shot-down Syrian pilot. Putin's dream of a land bridge between Tehran and Hezbollah going through Damascus has got some new problems now. But maybe the Ruskies will bring back their Kuznetsov, if the seas aren't too rough and sink her, to really get the US knees knocking with fear.

Higher rates to the rescue...
Adios NATO.

But Salsa, the territorial integrity of Syria must be maintained! It is non-negotiable *takes off shoe and bangs it on desk*
This looks like it's going to be a cliff-hander. Pass the popcorn. And retreat to your bomb shelters just in case.
