Alexander Mercouris — The Russiagate scandal descends into total absurdity

Mercouris assembles what is known to date, which is nothing that is evidence-based. Result? Reaching for straws.

Hilary and the liberals, and the media, just state it as fact now, no evidence needed. It's scary, seeing propaganda so clearly and blatantly.

No evidence?

Wasnt the Facebook guy saying this week that they were processing ads from Russia?

????

"Facebook, the company said on Thursday that it was turning over more than 3,000 Russia-linked ads to congressional committees investigating the Kremlin’s influence operation during the 2016 presidential campaign."

“I care deeply about the democratic process and protecting its integrity,” Facebook’s chief executive, Mark Zuckerberg, said during an appearance on Facebook Live, the company’s video service. He added that he did not want anyone “to use our tools to undermine democracy.”

“That’s not what we stand for,” he said.

What democracy? Someone tell Mark Zuckerberg the US is a dictatorship. The deep state runs it all.

I've had a look around and what is considered to be Russian propaganda is really the facts that the US propaganda tells us otherwise. Russia says in its New Eastern Outlook journal how the US installed neo-nazi fascists in the Ukraine, but the West says this is Russian propaganda. On the site I am now looking at called, How Russia Targets the U.S. Military, it states as facts how Assad used chemicals weapons on its civilians despite there being no evidence for it. Russian articles pointing this out is considered to be Russian propaganda.

Veterans Today uses the Russian news organisations for interesting articles and are said to be putting out Russian propaganda to veterans. But I look at those sites and see no propaganda, just facts. There is no truth in the Western press so our governments are trying to close down the real news.

Tom they are not saying any crimes were committed but if we are going to regulate the communications of US persons we certainly can regulate the speech of foreign entities coming in too...

Ever hear of McCain-Feingold ????

Matt Franko said...

So you're saying McCain Feingold can apply to US people but NOT foreign people????

If Russia had a government and elections they could do similar things wrt the US based entities trying to influence outcomes of Russian elections too...

Matt, those ads don't seem to have been campaign ads. And over half were placed after the election.

We won't know until the ads are made public.

Don't hold your breath waiting though.

Believe it or not, the Russian Federation actually has a government and elections in which parties and candidates compete.

If I were Putin and his "cronies," I'd look at Russiagate and the ensuing suppression of "Russian influence" as a gift.

The US is much more intrusive in Russian politics than the claims of Russian influence in the US, even if all the claims are true. This gives the Russian government justification for shutting US influence down. In fact, it is already in the works.

Good for them.....

There is a lot of speculation that the Chinese and Russian build up of gold reserves is to create a gold-backed currency system to end run dollar dominance and avoid sanctions in the future.

Again, good for them.... good luck to them....

The Irony here is that stopping foreign hoarding of dollars is exactly what we want. Since our government is fearful of deficit spending, we have no way to offset demand leakages caused by foreign saving in dollars. Every dollar spent rather than saved by foreigners allows US workers to work and allows the dollar's value to adjust rapidly downward when companies outsource and consumers import.
Obviously coastal elites and pensioners who are heavily invested in foreign production and fixed income securities won't like that, but pity for them. Should have critically thought of the financial risks before investing. This is why we have warnings on financial products.

Trump understands this he said the other day that the trade deficit is the source of the majority of our deficit... Trump understands the sectoral balances he has an MBA from Wharton and lets face it this accounting is not rocket science...

Its funny to watch the unqualified left (journos/econs and art majors) oppose Trump on these matters meanwhile Trump has the MBA from Wharton and has made $bazillions .... unbelievable!!!

Trump Train wants economic nationalism just listen to Bannon... trade deficit has to go and along with it will go most of the deficit... if Trump gets his program we might end up with very small deficits...
