Philip Weiss - Israeli Historian: Palestinians Are Biological Descendants of Bible’s Jews

Jeremy Corbyn has been told to counter antisemitism  in the Labour Party, but left socialists are not racists. This is a blatant attack on free speech and any criticism of Israel's policies in the ME. They are now saying that anti-Zionism is antisemitism, as if being anti Nazi is to be anti German, or anti the British National Front is to be anti British. The Western world is entirely corrupt and evil. Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman who have tortured family members to death gets to dine with the Queen, while Putin is considered a murderous assassin even though there is no evidence of this at all.

Edited, 08/04/2018.  I don't know enough about this topic to verify any of it, so I put it up only for discussion. KV

Two new articles deal with political/genetic controversies over the origins of “the Jewish people” (of whom I consider myself a part for one tribal reason or another). Here is Israeli historian Schlomo Sand in Le Monde Diplomatique, writing, “Israel Deliberately Forgets Its History.” Sand says that the Jewish exile of 70 AD is a myth, and “the Jews” of Europe were created by conversion.

Then there is the question of the exile of 70 AD. There has been no real research into this turning point in Jewish history, the cause of the diaspora. And for a simple reason: the Romans never exiled any nation from anywhere on the eastern seaboard of the Mediterranean…
But if there was no exile after 70 AD, where did all the Jews who have populated the Mediterranean  since antiquity come from? The smokescreen of national historiography hides an astonishing reality. From the Maccabean revolt of the mid-2nd century BC to the Bar Kokhba revolt of the 2nd century AD, Judaism was the most actively proselytising religion…
The most significant mass conversion occurred in the 8th century, in the massive Khazar kingdom between the Black and Caspian seas. The expansion of Judaism from the Caucasus into modern Ukraine created a multiplicity of communities, many of which retreated from the 13th century Mongol invasions into eastern Europe. There, with Jews from the Slavic lands to the south and from what is now modern  Germany, they formed the basis of Yiddish culture…
Until about 1960 the complex origins of the Jewish people were more or less reluctantly acknowledged by Zionist historiography. But thereafter they were marginalised and finally erased from Israeli public memory. The Israeli forces who seized Jerusalem in 1967 believed themselves to be the direct descendents of the mythic kingdom of David rather than – God forbid – of Berber warriors or Khazar horsemen. The Jews claimed to constitute a specific ethnic group that had returned to Jerusalem, its capital, from 2,000 years of exile and wandering.

Nothing good is ever going to come out of these types of investigations...

Kaivey this guy sounds like he works for the Jew bashing alt-right...

Kaivey,

this is the stuff David Duke brings up all the time....

Who cares?

You might be right, I took a risk.

I don't want anything to do with David Duke or racism. I'm not antisemitic. I really like Max Blumenthal, Greg Palast, Miko Peled, Eran Efratzi, Stephen lendman who I write to all the time, Noam Chomsky, and many other Jews and I would be really upset if they thought anything I put out was antisemitic.

More scientific research should be done on this topic.

I'm just angry because the Israel lobby have you by the balls and you can't discuss anything without them calling you antisemitic.

That was smear tactic, Frank, Philip Weiss, who put the above article together, is an American left wing Jew and is a million miles from David Duke and his mob. I'm just looking at some of his stuff now and it looks very good. He's an anti-Zionist American Jew.

Whenever anyone tries to criticise Israel the antisemitic card comes out. It makes sense to me that the people living in Palestine for thousands of years could be the direct descendants of the biblical Jews. More research is needed to verify this but you can bet that will never be done.

Arguing about who are the descendants of a work of fiction is an exercise in absurdity. All men are brothers. Some are closer than others.

No argument there, but maybe just try leaving it at that.... the truth will eventually have its way...

Of course the Palestinians are the descendants of the ancient Jews. This has been known for a very long time, not that you'll hear it much.

What confuses people is the absurd myth that the Romans expelled the Jews and that present day Jews are only going "home" (whatever that means) to their rightful homeland, having been exiled for close on to two millennia. You have to be immune to all the rubbish that passes for information and just think this through for about ten seconds, or you could just read a history book.

For all those pro-Israel thugs out there, here's an interesting thought experiment to consider. Does Palestine/Israel belong to the people who live there or simply your definition of Jews? Suppose overnight every Israeli Jew converted to Christianity (possibly an evangelical's wet dream), would they then be illegally settling the land of the Jews and have to be "ethnically" cleansed by a new wave of Jews, because only Jews can inhabit this land?

Kaivey, I don't mind more research being done. But the historic answer was settled some time ago. The genetic answer was settled in the last couple of decades: present day Palestinians are the descendants of Biblical Jews. Moreover, the majority of today's Jews today are converts and have absolutely no link with Biblical Jewry. Far too many people don't like facts. Tough luck.

I thought so, John. Thank you. This fact should be known by everyone, but of course it's suppressed.

The Western world is nothing but lies. Now the US has staged a false flag chemical attack in Syria using its proxies. And so the 'good guys', the US, are going to go in and put it right. Everything is a lie.

Tom, what you say is true, but any science sets itself an incredibly high hurdle before overwhelming evidence becomes something akin to absolute proof. Genetics is in the same position as climatology now or even cancer research in the seventies. Definitive to all intents and purposes means in lay language proven to an overwhelmingly high degree. This is similarly the case now with climate change and similarly the case with the suspicious link with smoking and cancer. All that can be said was that there is a very high correlation in all cases.

So genetically speaking, yes, there is a very high correlation, or "suggestive" evidence, linking today's Palestinians with Biblical Jewry. What is being demanded of genetics or climatologists is something so difficult that may not be achievable, and that's exactly why it is being demanded. Even is there is a 99.99% correlation between today's Palestinians and Biblical Jewry, or climate change and man's actions, the bigoted madmen who are claiming to be doing God's work will claim that there is doubt because the scientists are too reserved and academic. Scientists should not be so reluctant and roundabout in their conclusions. Their kindly and boring verbosity simply hands the game to the madmen. The geneticists and climatologists should be as forceful as today's evolutionary biologists and cosmologists. They should scream aloud that this is the truth and if you don't like it, you're a damned fool or an outright liar.
