The air defense of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet has declared that it is combat alert.Note that after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, Britain and France became the colonial powers that divided and ruled the Middle East (recall Sykes-Picot). They never gave up their interests in the region, and post-WWII, when the US became the dominant Western power, it brought them along. This is a neocolonial undertaking about control of the Middle East and its energy reserves. Control of the Middle East is also vital to the projected conflict with Russia and China.
