Common Dreams — Mexico's 'Bernie Sanders' Wins in a Huge Historic Landslide With Mandate to Reshape the Nation

AMLO is definitely the Bernie Sanders of Mexico.…
The New York Times reports:
"Mr. López Obrador’s win puts a leftist leader at the helm of Latin America’s second largest economy for the first time in decades, a prospect that has filled millions of Mexicans with hope — and the nation’s elites with trepidation.
"The outcome represents a clear rejection of the status quo in the nation, which for the last quarter century has been defined by a centrist vision and an embrace of globalization that many Mexicans feel has not served them."

This is surprising. AMLO won twice before, but the oligarchs installed their own representatives, declaring that the elections were void. I expected them to do it again.

When Mexico defeated Germany in the World Cup, the celebrations were so widespread that human movements registered on Mexican seismographs. If Mexico defeats Brazil tomorrow, then this (plus AMLO’s victory) will cause even bigger celebrations.

Incidentally, Andrés Manuel López Obrador is more of a genuine leftist than is Bernie Sanders.

Right. There are no genuine leftists in American politics at this point in time.

I like the way the media and bought off politicians act as if what is going on at the border is because of racism. I haven't heard NAFTA or any other trade agreement mentioned one time as the real cause of the problem. It is never mentioned in the media that the reason these people are coming here is because the US government has destroyed their livelihoods at home. What is going on at the border is just part of the attack on workers that the bankers have been carrying out forever. It is similar to when the same people brought in slaves in order to get cheap labor. The people behind the slave trade were able to start the Civil War and blame it on racism. I know that racism was involved but the cause was the ongoing war on labor.
And another thing, I heard a woman on the "news" the other night say that she had paid $8000 to get to the Mexican border. The news "reporter" didn't ask her where she got the money but don't you think it strange that a Latino can come up with that much money when the average American can't come up with $400.? Whatever, I am sure that George Sorus didn't have anything to do with her getting the money.
