Peter Hitchens - We're on the brink of war... and nobody cares

The Western aristocracy is barking mad and filled with greed. They're so rich, so why do they want even more money? Is it the fun of it? Psychopaths feel no love, so they're lives are empty and filled with boredom.

Are we on the brink of a new war? It looks very much like it. Will it be justified? I do not think so. Can we stop it? It is worth a try.
Almost everyone missed an amazing and worrying moment in Parliament last week, when Foreign Office Minister Alistair Burt (pictured right) gave us a glimpse of the Government’s thinking. They will go to war without waiting for the facts to be checked, and without recalling Parliament.
In a very brief debate about the war in Syria, he was asked about plans – now being openly discussed at high levels in Washington – for a devastating attack on Damascus.
This will be in response to a supposed atrocity that has yet to take place but about which the Americans openly say they already have evidence – probably an alleged poison gas attack, in which we will see heartbreaking but unverified film of dead or dying children, from propaganda sources, and claims of multiple deaths from untraceable ‘eyewitnesses’.
In my view, these claims are very similar to the claims of ‘Weapons of Mass Destruction’ (WMD) in Iraq, used to bamboozle the British and American people into that catastrophic war; and also to the claims of mass rape and massacre, equally unproven, which were the excuse for David Cameron’s disastrous attack on Libya.
These two wars together created the great march of migrants from Asia and Africa into Europe, which is transforming the continent – and also led to the rebirth of Islamist terror. Yet those responsible do not learn, and continue to take us for fools.

Wealth is relative. The sensation of being rich is not a product of having a lot of money, but of having a lot more money than most other people have. If I have a million dollars, and every around me has nothing, then I feel rich (i.e. I feel special). But if everyone around me has a million dollars, then I do not feel rich. Therefore rich people seek to keep average people in misery as far as possible without causing a revolt.

Regarding emptiness and boredom, yes, if you had more money than you could possibly spend, you would feel bored. Therefore extremely wealthy people focus on getting even more money. Because of the emptiness and boredom, the more power they have over others, the more power they want.

“Are we on the brink of a new war?”

Maybe. Maybe not. Politicians constantly threaten war, in order to keep average people on the edge of their seats, hanging on politicians’ every word. This makes politicians feel special.

Hitchens should stop believing imperialist propaganda. “Islamic terror” happens because terrorists are armed, trained, funded, and equipped by the USA and its allies (Western Europe, Israel, Saudi Arabia, etc). When “Islamic terror” happens in Europe, it is usually false flag, or else it has been arranged for, and manipulated by, local governments.

It’s not that people don’t care as much as it is that they don’t know. The propaganda has reached epic proportions, nobody even knows what is real any more.

Mission Accomplished!

“I thought, if the West had not funded militant Islam she probably would have probably been in her own country dressed in normal clothes.” ~ Kaivey

Correct. Middle Eastern governments after WW II became independent of Western control. Syria and Egypt, for example, sponsored pan-Arab nationalism. In those days there was no militant Islam, and everybody in the Middle East dressed in Western-style clothes. If you doubt this, then do a Google-image search of the words “1950s Afghanistan.” Middle Eastern cities were peaceful, picturesque, and technologically advanced. There was little or no discrimination against women. Syria. Iran, and others became secular and socialist.

In response to this independence and socialism, the West sponsored every Islamist movement it could, from the Muslim Brotherhood to al-Qaeda, to ISIS,™ and so on. The Western purpose was to sow chaos and instability, and – later – to create a pretext for endless war against the Middle East.

Today, stupid Western peasants think that Islamic countries have always been full of Islamic jihadists. The truth is that the West intentionally created these movements in order to spread, poverty, despair, and civil conflict.

Many Muslims have responded to this Western-engineered poverty by withdrawing into Islam. An example was the woman you saw who was wearing black.

Eric Zuesse says how the aristocracy have always used religion to get their wars going for them. The working class are very nationalistic and are easy to manipulate into a war.

Karl Marx:

The foundation of irreligious criticism is: Man makes religion, religion does not make man. Religion is, indeed, the self-consciousness and self-esteem of man who has either not yet won through to himself, or has already lost himself again. But man is no abstract being squatting outside the world. Man is the world of man – state, society. This state and this society produce religion, which is an inverted consciousness of the world, because they are an inverted world. Religion is the general theory of this world, its encyclopaedic compendium, its logic in popular form, its spiritual point d’honneur, its enthusiasm, its moral sanction, its solemn complement, and its universal basis of consolation and justification. It is the fantastic realization of the human essence since the human essence has not acquired any true reality. The struggle against religion is, therefore, indirectly the struggle against that world whose spiritual aroma is religion.

Religious suffering is, at one and the same time, the expression of real suffering and a protest against real suffering. Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people.

The abolition of religion as the illusory happiness of the people is the demand for their real happiness. To call on them to give up their illusions about their condition is to call on them to give up a condition that requires illusions. The criticism of religion is, therefore, in embryo, the criticism of that vale of tears of which religion is the halo.

Criticism has plucked the imaginary flowers on the chain not in order that man shall continue to bear that chain without fantasy or consolation, but so that he shall throw off the chain and pluck the living flower. The criticism of religion disillusions man, so that he will think, act, and fashion his reality like a man who has discarded his illusions and regained his senses, so that he will move around himself as his own true Sun. Religion is only the illusory Sun which revolves around man as long as he does not revolve around himself.

— Karl Marx, Introduction to A Contribution to the Critique of Hegel's Philosophy of Right

Meher Baba:

So long as people will continue attending to the empty shows of customs and ceremonials, they will fail to grasp the essence or substance of religion.

Though creeds and theologies are many, religion is, strictly speaking, only one, and this one religion includes in its essence sublime character, mental purity, love to God, and longing to realise the Truth.

In order that this religion may be applicable to all, caste-class tyranny and priestcraft must be eradicated root and branch.

February 1931,
Meher Message. 3:3, p. 91

The priest class proves to be an impediment in everything. If you gain independence, do this first: arrest all the purohits, dastoors and mullas.* Do not use violence, but deal with them firmly.

Deal with them vigorously, because it is an important, big work. And unless you send all the priests to Yeravda prison, they won’t improve. On the contrary, they will become worse.

8 September 1931,
to Mahatma Gandhi, on board the ship Rajputana en route from Port Said to Marseilles,
quoted in Bhau Kalchuri, Lord Meher, v. 4, p. 1397
*Hindu, Parsi and Muslim priests

Truth is above religion. Truth is far, far beyond the intellect. It can only be reached by love.
