Elliot Hannon — Democrat Declared Winner in Orange County House Race, Marking a Clean Democratic Sweep of the Onetime Conservative Stronghold

Strongest evidence yet of a Blue Wave. Orange County has traditionally been rock-solid Republican and a conservative stronghold.

On the other hand, it could only be a rejection of the Trump GOP and a vote for the bipartisan Establishment over it.

Orange County CA went 100% blue for the first time in many decades. Nonetheless if neoliberal Nancy Pelosi becomes House Speaker again (as appears very likely) the “blue wave” will remain a ripple.

Pelosi is owned by Wall Street. She is radically pro-war and anti-Single Payer. Trump (another neoliberal) is eagerly offering to help Pelosi get the Republican House votes she needs to become Speaker, in order to make sure the USA remains neoliberal.

Pelosi continues making her “pay-go” threat, which would straitjacket spending for new social programs by requiring offset tax hikes, or budget cuts in existing social programs.

Some Democrats don’t want Pelosi, but they will probably be drowned out when the vote for Speaker is held. Wall Street is talking to every freshman Representative, bribing them to vote for Pelosi, and threatening them if they do not. The bribes occur as cash, and as plumb committee assignments. Threats mean marginalization.

Pelosi says she should be Speaker (again) because she’s a woman. Fox New supports Pelosi by falsely calling her a “leftist,” in order to sustain the illusion that Pelosi is not a neoliberal.

Democrat corruption: House Democrats are bound by caucus rules to vote for whomever wins the nomination for speaker. The nominee is decided behind closed doors in a secret and DNC-controlled ballot vote, and requires only a simple majority of members to clinch. It's a much lower threshold than is needed on the House floor, where a small number of Democrats could conceivably checkmate Pelosi.

Some Democrats want this rule changed in the House, so they can vote for whoever they want, rather than having to obey Democrat Caucus dictates.

Hence, for the next two years, nothing will change. No Universal Medicare. No end to the wars. Pelosi will continue crush all genuine forms of progressivism, as she always has.

At age 78, maybe she’ll die in office.
