So You Want To Overthrow The State: Ten Questions For Aspiring Revolutionaries — Art Carden

The post is by someone tending toward "free-market anarchism" (anarcho-capitalism) so the commentary is predictable.

But the questions he poses are relevant to anyone that advocates for revolutionary change from either the left or right.

The questions can be summarized as, how to get from here to there while articulating clearly what "there" means.

If somebody is trying to “overthrow the state” then they need to be executed pronto....

If you tear down enough statues, you can't fail.

Depending on who’s in charge you can be one of those to be executed.

Well I’m not trying to “overthrow the state“... I’m voting... then accepting the legal results of the vote...

I’ve been supporting the current trump policies for 25 years... it takes patience...

Here’s some precedent:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whiskey_Rebellion

AG Barr looking into it now:

If they are found guilty then should be timely Federal executions for them...

You Bernie bro douchebags said “if Bernie doesn’t win then we’re going to burn it all down...”

Well Bernie lost so that is what you’re doing now.. ok.. we get it. .... so you should be arrested and charged if found guilty then executed if the crime carries a capital punishment...

Trump not doing it because polls saying the riots and insurrections are driving swing voters to him at 4:1 ratio... election only 45 days out...

If he wins I would expect him to immediately start to incarcerate these people and probably eventually execute some of them...

What makes you believe Trump would push for the death penalty (assuming there is one)?

Executing Julian Asange would be out of the question as well.

Matt Franko said...

The penalty is usually in the law... if there were egregious violations then often prosecutors will seek the harsher end of the penalty spectrum...

He may not advocate for it I’m just saying I would hope he would... I’m assuming he’s just using the riots right now to his political advantage... if he wins then he’s a lame duck and can do whatever he wants without having to consider further political ramifications...

Matt Franko said...

I’m voting for him so if he wins I’d expect and hope he would go after these people with full force of govt authority...

Either Leavenworth or Gitmo or execute them... Whatever the law calls for...

Here:

https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/part-I/chapter-115

“ Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; ”

Treason carries death penalty....

Sedition looks like it just carries a long jail sentence...

Trump on Boston marathon bomber:

Seems like he supports it’s implementation....

A riot is not treason or sedition or terrorism. Those type of charges would be viewed as politically motivated.

Asange is facing a long sentence if he's extradited.

Matt Franko said...

Well if Federal martial personal were dispatched by POTUS to Portland to deter a physical attack on the Federal courthouse and those martial personnel were physically attacked (they were) then that is levying war against the US ....

So all of those people could be charged with treason and if found guilty sentenced to death... I’d like to see it but you have to find a federal prosecutor who would pursue it...

I think Asannge is looking at Espionage not treason or sedition...

Matt Franko said...

Rioting and destruction of property is a separate crime....

Assange mentioned here:

Peter Pan said...

Given the context, it wouldn't be an act of war.

Assange looking at life in prison if convicted of all charges, according to a reporter covering the extradition proceedings in the UK.

Matt Franko said...

“Given the context, it wouldn't be an act of war.“

Yes it would...

Matt Franko said...

Let a jury find them not guilty then...

Peter Pan said...

Oh they're guilty, but not of an offence that ends in execution.

Prez. Joe Biden ordering a police crackdown next year might result in some deaths. Take that as small consolation.
