America needs enemies to justify its military spending, and China fits the bill.
If China is a threat according to geopolitical realities, that is a reality the US and every nation has a hand in maintaining. We choose to divide the planet into sovereign jurisdictions, and we choose to adhere to a global economic model. Different choices would change the playing field.
This isn't ideology. These are the rules.
