Russia has decided to cut loose from the West, joining which was a pipe dream since the days of Peter the Great. Russia is turning to Eurasia, in particular China. China and Russia are an ideal match. China needs Russia resources, especially energy, and Russian technology that China lacks. Russia needs goods manufactured by China.
With Russia and China as the drivers, Eurasia, including Central Asia and South Asia, will be linked economically, MENA and later Africa to follow. Europe won't be able to resist the pull in the long run, since the New Silk Road is where global growth is going to come from in the foreseeable future.
