Portnoy's wiki says he graduated from Michigan with a degree in education… Michigan’s website says you can go either Bachelor of Art or Bachelor of Science in the Education discipline… wiki doesn’t say which one Portnoy was awarded with … but Portnoy obviously sees AOC’s Art Degree paradox as hypocrisy…

Science degree people are the builders Neil… that’s what we train to do…
There is a purpose for Art Degree people but it is not having anything to do with our material systems operations and administration…
You start employing paradox in material systems administration and very soon you are going to blow yourself up (and anyone around you)…

Paradoxes tickle the senses (and sense of humor). They enable people that are otherwise unable measure and quantify their world and then express it in abstract terms to understand the basic concepts of limits, multiple solutions, higher level geometries, discontinuities and generally where extremes cause "unusual" or out of ordinary changes to their patterned thinking. Teaching people that have limited cognitive abilities new ways to think about problems doesn't have many downsides. Most of econ is a disaster because everyone learns these dumb patterns in school early on and then immediately point to their identities that describe 80% of the economy 60% of the time.

Not a telling criticism here, as hardly anyone has worked more effectively at building things up than Ocasio-Cortez. But sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. For those the message was targeted at are obsessed with impoverishing and unemploying the poor. The dress was a good idea.
It is no accident that she has gotten a lot of dishonest and stupid criticism from a self-styled "true left". The Jacobin/Sanders/DSA/AOC crowd is a lot truer than such poseurs. But any publicity is good publicity; they're dumb as a box of rocks, but they're doing her a favor.
