'Western' Conflict Reporting Has Come Down To "Officials On Our Side Said ..." (There are at least three reasons behind this journalistic failure. First, journalist are hired to support the conventional narrative. Secondly, funding a real news room is expensive and doesn't pay for itself. Westerners worry about ethno-nationalists led by Trump, Putin, and Xi. But we've got rabid ethnonationalists in Ukraine and we're supplying them with almost unlimited weapons! Reminds me of the Biblical passage:
Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye;
and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

If Ukraine were absorbed by its neighbours (which it was historically a part of), would that not be the best possible outcome?
Ukrainian diaspora do not cause trouble, as far as I know.
