Trump's top economic adviser praises Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, wants to meet with her on Fed ... — Bloomberg

President Donald Trump’s top economic adviser praised left-wing Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, after the political rivals found common ground in urging the Federal Reserve not to worry about low unemployment triggering inflation.
“I’ve got to give her high marks for that,” Larry Kudlow told Fox News on Thursday, referring to Ocasio-Cortez’s quizzing of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell in Congress the previous day....
At least they agree that the Phillips Curve is wrong.

Jennifer Jacobs and Nick Wadhams — Kudlow Says Trump’s China Tariffs Are Just Proposals Right Now

White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow stressed U.S. tariffs announced on Chinese goods are still only proposals that might never take effect as the Trump administration sought to tamp down fears of a trade war.

“None of the tariffs have been put in place yet, these are all proposals,” Kudlow said in an interview Wednesday with Bloomberg News. “We’re putting it out for comment. There’s at least two months before any actions are taken.”

Administration officials throughout the day emphasized the U.S. is willing to negotiate with China, helping to ease concerns among investors about a tit-for-tat trade conflict....

Trump picks Kudlow. I am going to make a fortune.

Tom put it correctly a short while ago when he called it a descent into farce.

Larry Kudlow is a moron, there's no two ways to put it.

From his goofy "Free market capitalism is the best path to prosperity," chants to his jingoistic, "King Dollar" slogan, the guy is a quack.

Kudlow got everything wrong in the crash.

1) He predicted hyperinflation from the Fed's monetary policies.
2) He said the dollar would crash. (Also from the Fed's policies.)
3) He said that interest rates were going to skyrocket because "creditors" wouldn't "lend" to us anymore.

I will say this about him, though...the guy seems to have nine lives. He was Chief Economist at Bear Stearns, but got fired because he was a coke addict.

Then he bounced around and eventually got hired by CNBC. They gave him a show which got canceled because of lousy ratings, but they kept him on and still paid him a 7-figure salary.

Now this.

The guy is a joke. He is supply-side zombie. A fool.

One thing I can tell you: he's going to pump up inflation like crazy with more tax cuts. And rates WILL skyrocket this time as the Fed reacts and then hikes and hikes and hikes.

Oh, Mr. King Dollar? He will end up crashing the dollar even faster than Trump has been able to do so far.

I'm gonna make a fortune.

Not a day goes by where Trump doesn't show that he's got no idea what he is doing.

James Kwak — Kudlow and Economics in the Trump Administration

Title should be Larry Kudow and economism.

I prefer G. W. H. Bush's "voodoo economics."

It seems some people never learn.

Edward Harrison — Supply-side economics likely to dominate Trump’s economic agenda

Same old trickle down.
Overall though, I see Trump as having been elected due to voters angry about declining income growth and job security, particularly in the rust belt states that had voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012. That means Trump needs to appeal to this group in some discernible way to be successful. He even said so himself on election night, talking of having only two years to make his mark. He might be able to appeal to them on cultural grounds the way Republicans have done in the past. I don’t see that being effective though given the angst still evident after seven years of recovery. But supply side isn’t going to do it either unless Trump can create enough growth that it reaches deep into the rust belt where all the manufacturing jobs have been lost. His interventions against individual companies like Carrier can only go so far. At the end of the day, he has to deliver jobs and income.

Menzie Chinn — All the Governor’s Men (Economists)

Paul Krugman notes Governor Walker’s advisers on economics at a recent meeting are Larry Kudlow, Stephen Moore and Arthur Laffer. These folks make appearances in the Econbrowser archives.…
I am ever thankful for the likes of Kudlow, Moore, Laffer and their like, even as they drag down the level of economic discourse. They just provide too many examples of how not to conduct serious analysis.

Congrats CNBC...you finally cancelled that idiot Kudlow!!!!

Free market capitalism may be the best path to prosperity, but it certainly wasn't the best path to ratings! LOL!!!

Bravo CNBC...you finally cancelled that idiot Kudlow!!! WTF took you so long?

(He'll probably end up on Fox Business of course. That's where all the Wall Street serving, banker apologist, neoliberal pushing sociopaths go.)

Read it and laugh here.

Hey, CNBC, now put an MMT guy in there and watch your ratings soar!

Maria Bartiromo leaving CNBC for Fox Business. What took her so long?

The "Money Honey," Maria Bartiromo, is finally taking her Wall Street apologist, criminal banker loving excuse for a business anchor TV sideshow to a place where it will be really appreciated: Fox Business.

I'm tempted to ask what took her so long, however, I think the proper question is...why? Why would she go to Fox Business when CNBC has already become a Fox knock-off, with the same endless stream of make-you-want-to-gag out of paradigm economic vomit that worships austerity, corporate welfare and fraud, gold buggery, worker income debasement and the quest for inequality to the nth degree?

I'd like to think that CNBC was already considering canning her, but I doubt it. That would be giving the "brain trust" over there--Sr. V.P. and Editor in Chief, Nik Deogun, CNBC Managing Editor, Nick Dunn and President, Mark Hoffman--way too much credit.

But the real joke is on Gary Schreier, the former Fox Executive Producer who formerly produced all of Neil Cavuto's shows, who jumped ship for CNBC about a year and a half ago, apparently lured over to try to get Bartiromo's in-the-toilet ratings out of the toilet and at least onto the toilet seat. Guess that didn't work out too well, eh Gary? With any luck you'll be soon looking for work.

All we need now is to see that slouching clown, Joe Kernan, and supply-side Bozo, Larry Kudlow bail for the Fox network and the hilarious coup will be complete: The Three Stooges will have found a new home.

Honestly, if Roger Ailes thinks that Fox Business's ratings will climb with the edition of air head Bartiromo or the other two losers, if they happen to go, then all I can say is I envy him. It must be fun playing sadist to Rupert Murdoch's money. The old geezer Murdoch is probably already senile, so he doesn't even know.

CNBC,Fox, you both suck!

At this point if CNBC has any chance at all it needs to dump its editorial line, stop with the unbridled worship of corporate greed, austerity and cease with the needless blowing of smoke up the asses of Wall Street billionaires.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Santelli.

On second thought, I think there's no hope at all.

CNBC viewership plunges to an 8-year low

What do they expect with people like Santelli, Bartiromo, Kudlow and Cabrera? A lot of expense for very little result.

All clueless idiots spouting the neoliberal, faux-free-market bullshit.

And this is all happening as stocks soar to new record highs.

Read about it here at Zerohedge.
