The Trump administration’s new sanctions on Iran are so wide-reaching that many fear they are meant to directly harm the Iranian people as they struggle to cope with the coronavirus pandemic.
Heartless and Sadistic
Iran was one of the first countries to be hit badly by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the U.S. used the opportunity to cause maximum devastation by intimidating other nations into refusing to sell or donate them medical supplies, lest they be hit with secondary sanctions. As a result, Iran was woefully under equipped to deal with the problem. In the end, the World Health Organization stepped in, sending supplies themselves — part of the reason the Trump administration was so keen to leave the organization. Washington insiders openly discussed using the pandemic to force the Iranian government out of office and implement a regime more suited to their needs.Mintpress
Alan Macleod - Critics Say New Iran Sanctions Designed To “Choke off Humanitarian Exports” Amid Pandemic
Why don’t they just adapt MMT and all of a sudden all of their real material needs will appear????
ReplyDeleteThey can't trade...
ReplyDeleteDon’t have to trade... just issue their own currency and all the stuff will just be produced domestically because you can pay people to do it...
ReplyDeleteSo Matt doesn’t understand MMT after all these years. Who would have thought.....
ReplyDeleteYou have to start somewhere... if they established a policy to produce these healthcare products domestically and issued currency appropriately so people there could get paid to work in that industry they (eventually) would have the products they need...
ReplyDeleteThey shouldn’t have to come to the US or anywhere else for anything... It’s a big diverse well resourced nation...
It’s THE WHOLE POINT of MMT....
Why Kevin would post some out of paradigm article like this on a MMT blog I have no idea why....
These type of “were out of money!” articles are available on any number of left wing anti US commie moron blogs all the time.... just go there...
"Don’t have to trade... just issue their own currency and all the stuff will just be produced domestically because you can pay people to do it..."
ReplyDeleteLike commercial airplane parts?
https://www.washingtoninstitute.org/policy-analysis/view/how-sanctions-are-affecting-irans-airline-industry
They can just build their own planes..., just pay people to do it...
ReplyDeleteAnd who says they have to fly any where? They could just drive or take a bus...
ReplyDeleteThe whole place is only 900mi x 1400mi It’s drivable....
ReplyDeleteThis like a slave owner whipping a slave, exclaiming: "This is your chance... free yourself!"
ReplyDeleteIMO Matt has mostly become a Denis Leary on crack-- all of the rant with none of the humor. Here however what he's recommending is essentially import substitution. How is that bad? MMT absolutely facilitates that, probably far better than any other way, including slavery.
ReplyDelete“ How is that bad? ”
ReplyDeleteYo It’s not bad ... they should just do it...
If they paid people to do stuff over there the people would do it...
ReplyDeleteLeary and Franko are equally entertaining.
