Tom,

This is perhaps a unique situation the west finds itself in.

In the past, this was easy, simply attack and conquer the foreign entity that is holding us up for these resources. Simply take the petroleum from the squatters who are sitting on top of it and claiming the so-called mineral rights.

But recently we have reported here that the US itself is becoming the worlds largest petroleum extractor.

The petro price is a global price so when the swing producer in Saudi Arabia sets the global price high (such as now) our domestic producers profit greatly also.

So it can be viewed that our domestic producers are letting Saudi "do the dirty work" of monopoly price setting (and safely outside of the US in Switzerland) where they cannot be pursued legally.

Our domestic producers, who have deep political pockets, reap the rewards of the monopoly prices that look to be set by the foreign monopolist entity. They pay the klepto-morons in govt to do nothing about this.

So we will continue to do nothing about this this time because there are powerful political entities here in the US that are profiting greatly because of this monopolist price setting activity.

It is going to have to take a group of US domestic petroleum users to get together and counter attack these arrangements politically.

Say the US military, Wal-Mart, large trucking/transportation Cos., Airlines... these entities are going to have to get together and put together a plan to counter this either thru shutting down the cartel or coming up with abundant energy alternatives.

Resp,
