CR was called our for this. I believe he originally claimed it was seniors leaving the workforce, but I provided a graph here that clearly shows lower participation rate for 25 to 54 yr. olds while 55+ is soaring. The graph is worth 1000 words, and blows away that stupid idea. Any lie or excuse is good enough so long as we keep the ruse going for one day longer.
