I believe that ship sailed awhile ago probably starting with Truman's sellout of labor in failing to remove Taft-Hartley which essentially removed all ability of the working class to organize a counter to ruling class forces.

The assassinations of the 60s where simply the oligarchy telling the world they could and would do anything from that point on and get away with it. The Republic died officially in Los Angeles in 1968.
