An economics, investment, trading and policy blog with a focus on Modern Monetary Theory (MMT). We seek the truth, avoid the mainstream and are virulently anti-neoliberalism.
I had read somewhere, probably in a blog comment that during the last ceiling crisis, the TDC proposal had gone high up in the Obama administration, but Geithner had balked at using the TDC option. I think if I remember correctly it was supposed to have been brought up by O's Chief of Staff. Suddenly just now, I realized that Lew WAS O's Chief of Staff!
On Lew: "No matter what you're proposing or no matter what compromise you're trying to forge, he comes at it from a position of, 'Whatever you want, I have to be against,'" the GOP aide said.
Carney is a fool. Jack Lew is an avowed deficit hawk. While he may oppose specific demands of the GOP, his ideology is EXACTLY the same as the most extreme right wing of the conservative movement.
Mike the difference is that the GOP want the Dems to propose cutting "entitlements" — which they know would destroy the Democratic Party.
Guess what. Democrats excepting the president know it too, and they are scared shitless that O is going to sell them out for his "legacy" as a Very Serious Person.

Is the pot calling the kettle black?
