As soon as push comes to shove, and the liberal-democratic societies are threatened by total war, they approximate central planning in their production methods as closely as their political systems allow.

I wish the one-sided, anti-planning folks would at least take obvious facts like this on board. Of course central planning works. In many cases it's the only thing that works.

They both are sorely lacking. Let's stick with the mixed economy while adding tweaks around the edges--meaningful and executed regulations at the forefront of said tweaks..

As Hudson says

"there is always central planing. The only question is weather it is done by elected officials or a unelected oligarch."

Funny, I said the same thing on the "http://mikenormaneconomics.blogspot.com/2013/02/paul-krugman-despicable-me.html" thread when I pointed that there is no effective difference from the Austrian Hans Hermann-Hoppe's libertarian monarchy from North's Korea's Marxist Dear Leader.

Marxism is anti Statist and so is libertarian Neoliberalism but anti-statism always seems bring the opposite when they come to power.

I'm merely asking people why this keeps happening?
