Here's another one sure to increase the readings on our internal indignation meters. Story at Financial Post.
Who else has entered the terrible teens? The Euro-Area! It was born in 1999, and so is currently fourteen years old. It has all the hallmarks of teenage angst. It is ridden with internal conflicts, it is groping around for structure, and it is suspicious of authority.
So who can be a positive role model for the Euro-Area? Well it cannot be the “fathers”: Germany or France. It has to be an external figure that all Europeans respect, and whose motives and character are beyond dispute. That rules out anyone living as even the most competent person will make missteps or have something from their past dredged up to undermine them. That leaves us with historical figures whose lives have been laid bare by history. I can only think of one figure that is respected by most Europeans and has never sinned, Jesus!
Who’s to blame, and who is blameless If everyone in the Euro-area would adopt the principle of not casting stones unless they were without sin then the constant accusations would stop. That moron fomented chaos fest over there in the Eurozone (indeed the entire west) doesn't need a "role model", it needs a leadership to come into a realization of a key authority that they are manifestly led to be yes indeed "suspicious of" and RESIST ... if not led to be completely blind to: The Monetary Authority of our earthly human civil government here in the nations that has been given to us from above.
1 Let every soul be subject to the superior authorities, for there is no authority except under God. Now those which are, have been set under God, 2 so that he who is resisting an authority has withstood God's mandate. (Romans 13:1-2)Current leadership in the west has no view of true authority, or as Paul originally wrote here in Greek 'exousia', literally translated "out-being".
Oh, and by the way, no metal-lovers need apply also.

The funny thing is that in the old days, the pope would step in an settle the matter as "the vicar of Christ."
Europe the most conquered place in history, and will remain so.
Jesus said: "Before Abraham was, I am." That can be extrapolated to mean, "before Keynes was, Jesus is a Post-Keynesian." Post-Keynesians are not taken seriously. Jesus is therefore "unserious," and need not apply.
Tom,
Maybe that was all he could do under a metallic standard ... seems like everybody (probably including the Pope why would he be any different) back then could not imagine an alternative system to metals...
Maybe I can go easy on them as there did not exist the Information Technology or even enough quantities of "precious" metals to provide the "accounting" for all of the surplus value that was generated over the centuries since we went off nomisma...
But whatever the reasons it went off the rails back then, we certainly have the IT today to run this system the right way again...
We have to get qualified pilots in the cockpit or we keep going down....
Rsp,
Right David my take on this from this DB guy is he thinks if we just "stop with the accusations" that will somehow make it all better...
That is at best naive and clueless.
Where does this lead?
"Stop accusing each other and we all just have to accept our dose of austerity..."???
This is useless output from DB... not insightful AT ALL... NO VALUE ADDED imo....
rsp,
If he understood fiat currency, you'd have to expect that another prophet would save europe FROM the current euro monetary system. :)
ps: if a prophet activist did decide to speak out, and become a martyr ... AND was offered overwhelming bribes from the bank lobby
Would she or he soon confuse prophet with profit? :(
Ask the Irish. Or anyone else the Brits have had dealings with. Bribery is the lead tactic in divide & conquer & loot.
They better do not exercise any true authority. As they shouldn't have none in reality.
Or you are in favour of surrendering democracy and the installation of authoritarian governments ala EU?
These institutions shouldn't have any monetary power to start with, as they are outside any democratic control mechanism and can impose their will as they please. They may be making stupid choices, but they are after all forcing their own policies, so they are forcing their own authority over the will of the subjugated nations.
If you don't trust me, just check the media of these nations. While carried away by the mantras of the austerian (hysterian) policies, the cries for countercyclical measures are high amongst the population even the hypocrite and coward politicians.
