To Sustain MalAdaptive Propaganda, Even Unwittingly, You Need Only To Minimally Infect The Reproductive Dynamics of Group Thought Generation

Commentary by Roger Erickson

German economic boom pushes youth toward Merkel

With Germany’s elections set for Sunday, polls show young Germans turning to Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party. How did the country’s [transient] economic boom turn young Germans to the right?

Whoa! By the time these kids fail, they'll already be locked into their inappropriate beliefs?

This brings up the negative aspects of JIT/JAN (just-in-time / just-as-needed).

What's that say about the difficult dynamics of human development? How can we accidentally keep whole electorates trapped into propagating inappropriate paradigms?

Are our Luddites slowing us down, and effectively titrating exactly how little mis-learning has to be dripped into our culture, during constant, continuously asynchronous sexual recombination and child-hood habit-formation cycles? Ya think? The cost of any steadily dripping, inappropriate bias soon compound to severely maladaptive group prejudices. Every form of system evolution is rife with example tasks of delicately removing or safely compartmentalizing otherwise systemic biases that constrain Adaptive Rate.

For the sentient, of course, this also gives a glimpse of how astounding our Adaptive Rate COULD be ... if we had a group-mind to try it.

Frobel was onto this 200 years ago when he invented Kindergarten, as was the Prussian Military Officer Training Program, 1807-1931.  If you're careful to preclude all biases from safely-constructed personal or group challenges ... the rate at which humans generate novel solutions to novel, emerging tasks is truly astounding.

It's sadly ironic that The Economic Consequences of The Peace left most nations - and especially Germany, pursuing the known dead-end of forcing innately adaptive juveniles into memorization instead of honest evaluation practice. No wonder we all ended up being ruled by our own Luddites. We are what some of us choose to glorify?

No wonder the behavioral and cultural complexity of species correlates so well with the length of their still-developing, adolescent life-cycle phases. The longer time allowed before "freezing" & rigorously applying learned paradigms ... the more ability that culture has to keep adjusting both individuals and the entire culture.

Even the trend to lengthening childhoods or plastic periods can, however, be overcome, with enough mal-adaptive, voluntary effort.  Who said that cultural self-assisted suicide was illegal? If it is, chalk up yet another process we think we can't afford to regulate!

Exposure to transient bias ensures economic doom. It is what it is.
