Nothing new under the sun. Radicals look forward and reactionaries look backward. Half the GOP base is a mixture of the remnant of Luddites, racists, and no-nothings facing a modern world of complexity and rapid change in which their traditional ideology and values appear to be threatened and the haven’t' realized that these ideas and values are threaten because change has made them obsolete.
