Scott Martelle — How the Right Wing Manipulated the Government Into a Shutdown

Shutdown was brainchild of right-wing think tanks and unidentified donors to fund campaigns of GOP representatives that resist the plan to defund Obamacare. Yep, yet another vast right-wing conspiracy, as we saw mounted immediately upon the election of Bill Clinton that led to the Gingrich revolt in the House and Clinton's subsequent impreachment. Same playbook. The president knows this, of course, and now it is a constitutional issue. This is going to be a battle of wills while the American people and world stand by watching the plot unfold, speculating on the consequences for them as two radically different visions for America clash in a battle to the death.

What is THE IDEAL in America?

From one aspect, sitting on the scales are individual selfishness on one side; the general welfare, peace and security, natural development of the American people on the other.

For me, first and foremost, human beings are human beings, a part of evolution and our beautiful planet earth – here to enjoy the absolute miracle of being alive!!!!! As human beings we have a right to prosper, a right to live peacefully and with dignity. We have a right to seek happiness and fulfilment, truth; to learn and unfold as human beings, because that is what we are all about. We are not assembly line dolls to be programmed as mindless insentient playthings, there to fulfil some personal notion of grandeur. Selfishness and dehumanising holds people under ….. If the economic, science and political systems cannot support human beings, then of what use are they to us?

Why not just strait-jacket the whole of Congress, robot feed them stale bread and water, horror war-movies, graphic tales of human suffering inflicted upon their own species (by people just like them, see how they suck it up for a change) - and not let them out of there until they can agree on an ideal.

I don’t think Americans like their country to be seen under the control of irresponsible cowboys, arrogantly holding their beloved nation to ransom – with guns pointed from both sides of the political divide. Americans wonder when others speak of elitists in their country as international predators and war-machine-mongers, cultural genocidaire who excel in invading other countries (people with just as much right to self-expression and self-determination, self-evolution, as their own) – financially or militarily; and make no mistake about it – that is exactly how it appears to the rest of the thinking world. And the lie about running out of money – HA!!! I think you could give any five-year old a money-grinding machine (paper fed in one end, turn the handle, out comes $billion dollar notes at the other) and the kid would understand: ‘anybody who can create money never runs out’. Goebbels would have been proud of standing on its head the obviousness of such a simple conditional truth, and knobbing the people with the Bill. In Europe and the UK it underpins blatant class warfare: in America brass-knuckled thugs – everywhere it means suppression of human dignity and holding under human development. It is the whole of humanity that should be lifted, as human beings – not just selfish elites wallowing in expensive priggeries. This world is not their gravy plate and it will never be free for their taking. Being human is just not consistent with that.

America – land of the free and home of the brave huh? Not yet it seems: and brave in the face of what, and free to do what …..

But of course, only Americans are responsible for their country. Folks, you let it all happen and now wait like good little soldiers for some myopic decision to be handed down to you, to gnaw on like a single bone thrown to the dogs ….. I can’t see that working!!

(cont).

The selfishness is crystallising, clear and evident in every aspect. But America: from one of your own ….

America:
"Kathy, I'm lost," I said, though I knew she was sleeping
I'm empty and aching and I don't know why
Counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike
They've all gone to look for America
All gone to look for America

Sounds Of Silence
And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share and no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence

Fools said I, you do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon God they made
And the sign flashed out it's warning
In the words that it was forming
And the signs said, 'The words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls and tenement halls'
And whispered in the sounds of silence

Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream

Last night I had the strangest dream
I ever dreamed before
I dreamed the world had all agreed
To put an end to war
I dreamed I saw a mighty room
The room was filled with men
And the paper they were signing said
They'd never fight again

And when the papers all were signed
And a million copies made
They all joined hands and bowed their heads
And grateful prayers were prayed
And the people in the streets below
Were dancing round and round
And guns and swords and uniforms
Were scattered on the ground

Last night I had the strangest dream
I ever dreamed before
I dreamed the world had all agreed
To put an end to war

You have a budget for war and possession, self-aggrandisement. Where is your budget for peace, dignity and prosperity for all?

After 200,000 years on the road, what is a human being?
