Red Pill Times — Vicky Nuland said it best, “F*** the EU.” Gazprom will send all gas to Europe via Turk Stream

Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller made the announcement on Wednesday and Europe just had a major coronary.…
Victoria Nuland must be a psychic or something…because her “F*** the EU” statement is about as precise a summary of Europe’s overall situation as you can get.

Isnt the gas still getting to Europe its just taking a different route to get there?

How is this getting f-ed?

Getting f-ed would be cutting off the gas... which btw they did at one point...

Big deal for Ukraine because they can't take the gas on its way to Europe and put Gazprom on the easy payment plan. With the Turkish line, Russia can enforce their prepayment terms on Ukraine. Right now, it is all bluster, because if Russia doesn't get the gas delivered to Europe, they default on contracts and have to pay damages to Europe so they ship through Ukraine and Ukraine takes... pays when they feel like it.

There is no real change to Europeans though. They have built LNG terminals all over the place, they have more gas storage than anywhere in the world, and pipes connecting the entire continent to each other. Delivery from the new Turkey pipeline isn't that big of deal unless I'm missing something? Europe has been playing games with building and permitting the old south stream pipeline, this now puts the onus on Europe to hustle and get a connection to the new pipe done but, if Europe prioritizes the project, they could have the pipeline completed in a few months.

I don't see the big drama except that Russia is pleased that they've bypassed the Euro-Bureaucracy and their political games on stalling the old pipeline.

All gas to South Europe via Turkey. Greece’s golden opportunity. Here are the big winners and big losers

1. Control of energy resources

2. Transit fees.

Isn't the EU getting f-ed because their plan (US backed) failed on the geopolitical level? The gas will flow on Russian / Gazprom terms and not EU terms.

MICHAEL HUDSON, PROF. ECONOMICS, UMKC: Europe has imposed something that seems bizarre on the face of it. It’s–in an attempt to isolate Russia, to sort of join America’s new Cold War policy, the Eurozone imposed what it called the third energy policy. And this policy says a company that produces oil and gas cannot own the pipeline; there has to be a separation in order to have a free market.

Now, to show you how absurd this is, imagine if America had a policy that a building owner couldn’t own the elevators in the building. Suppose the landlords of the Empire State Building were not allowed to own the elevators in it. They had to say, well, for a free market, we need to have an elevator company own the elevators. Well, you can imagine what would happen. The elevators would say, you want to go to the 60th floor? I’m sorry, that’ll be $5. Or would you like to walk? You want to go to the 80th floor? That’ll be $10. All of a sudden, the elevator operator would be able to get all of the rental value that the landlord of the Empire State Building had hoped.

Well, this is why the U.S. neocons put in the Europeans’ hands the idea, don’t let Russia or Gazprom own the pipeline to give you gas. Let’s find a way of ripping Russia off. Let’s insist that the Americans and the Europeans own the pipeline, and then no matter what Russia charges for gas, we can say, you want to sell gas at $80 a barrel? Well, you’ll have to give us $10, $20, maybe $30 a barrel. Otherwise, we won’t let you send the gas over the pipeline.

This is basically what Ukrainians have said to Russia: we want control of the pipeline so that we can hold Russia up for ransom.

Yes, the plan was to force Gazprom to divest of pipelines to get access to Europe, so as to and give the transit fees to the countries of the EU through which the pipelines pass. This would bleed part of the gains from the gas and oil from Russia to Europe on Russian energy. The Russian said to stuff it.

Putin and the Russians are smarter than anyone gives them credit for. Our side pulls out its meaningless strategies and the Russians roll with them like ju jitsu.

Seve141 and Tom Hickey: good comments.

There are MANY western interests that also would like to see the price for oil and gas as high as possible...

Hudson has a major cognitive bias via his politics...

I thought the Ukrainian deal was for a % of the gas not a fixed fee per volume????

Here is the wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russia%E2%80%93Ukraine_gas_disputes

"According to a contract between Gazprom and Naftohaz signed on 21 June 2002, payment for the transfer of Russian natural gas through the Ukrainian pipeline system had been made in exchange for no more than 15% of the gas pumped through Ukrainian territory to be taken in lieu of cash.[citation needed] This contract was supposed to be valid until the end of 2013."

Hudson doesnt even know what is even going on... time for retirement Hudson....

Toilet paper for crying out loud... and the place is a jungle there are trees everywhere...

These leftist/commie/slaves f-up everything when the price goes up in USD terms... they immediately renege when they see the $$$ signs rolling around in their eyeballs....

These leftist/commie/slaves are always overwhelmed by greed and covetousness for Euro/USD balances.

Both Russia and Venezuela should not have reneged on the royalty deals and none of this would be happening....

Slaves generally dont know how to do business this is not their role...

@Matt,

That doesn't address this: "this policy says a company that produces oil and gas cannot own the pipeline" which is accurate.

At a certain point, slaves get fed up and revolt. Then the former slave masters do everything in their power to undercut the success of the slaves in order to to get their "property" back by restoring "freedom" in the sense of economic liberalism.

Same in Haiti, Cuba, Chile, Brazil, Nicaragua, El Salavador, Honduras, Venezuela and other countries in Latin America that revolted against neo-colonial control, only to see their "leftist" governments undermined or cadres attacked. Latin America has been the poster child of US neo-imperialism and neo-colonialism at least since the Spanish-American War.

And the US has moved on from there to extend its empire globally. Now it is the most feared country on earth. Nice going, folks.

It's not like this hasn't been meticulously documented by people like Noam Chomsky and Michael Hudson.

A valid contract requires consideration and in an economic transaction that is usually price.
