If the neoconservatives have their way again, U.S. ground troops will reoccupy Iraq, the U.S. military will take out Syria’s secular government (likely helping Al Qaeda and the Islamic State take over), and the U.S. Congress will not only kill the Iran nuclear deal but follow that with a massive increase in military spending.
Like spraying lighter fluid on a roaring barbecue, the neocons also want a military escalation in Ukraine to burn the ethnic Russians out of the east and the neocons dream of spreading the blaze to Moscow with the goal of forcing Russian President Vladimir Putin from the Kremlin. In other words, more and more fires of Imperial “regime change” abroad even as the last embers of the American Republic die at home.…
On Friday, Kagan’s column baited the Republican Party to do more than just object to President Barack Obama’s Iranian nuclear deal. I've heard there's no way R's have the votes to stop Iran deal -- unless D's join them.
It's also questionable how serious Obama is about the deal. He could care less about peace, just wants to triangulate against Russia & have some accomplishment for his legacy. Some have speculated that O will sabotage or postpone it at the last moment.

Right. The Times is a principal mouthpiece of US propaganda keeping the pot boiling. Is the Times reporting on the Right Sector uprising in Ukraine that is roiling the country, or the incipient bankruptcy? Instead, create diversion in the opposite direction.
Exactly. The spread between the version of events used by Russian media and American media continues to grow even while rhetoric is being toned down in other areas of cooperation. MH17 anniversary articles were similarly pointed in opposite directions.
