Galbraith is low hanging fruit politically but in economic circles, it sends a message to the academics who create the politically acceptable orthodox economic narrative.

Greece should start cozying up to Russia and playing Russia against the US and Europe (read NATO). Greece is NOT expendable for the US and Western Europe. The Greeks need to wake up to this and use it as big stack of bargaining chips.
23 Greeks ("trained in the U.S.") sent a letter to the president of the University of Texas instructing him to, and I paraphrase, "keep his ho on a leash!".
Greece could not reject the orthodoxy, as the population was under the spell of the euro and the politicians feared short term (intense) pain and possible backlashes (military coups, far right govt etc.).
The reality is that under the brutal assault it was by the out of control ECB they would have faced food and medicine shortages. Venezuela in Europe, not something they would have allowed to happen.
They should have taken Schauble deal, with a plan to minimise pain while Greece got out of the euro. Instead the pussy politicians listened to the usual suspects (including part of their population which has profited from miss-driven policies last decade(s)) and didn't do the correct thing to save their own neck.

With the EU relaxing their debt limits for Portugal and Italy, these Greeks should be directing their energy elsewhere.
