Neil W. McCabe — Sen. Ted Cruz to ‘Storm Congress’ Rally: It Is Time to Repeal Obamacare, ‘We Are Out of Excuses’

Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz revved up hundreds of Tea Party activists at Wednesday's "Storm Congress" rally against the American Health Care Act crafted by Speaker Paul Ryan (R.-Wis.) to stabilize health insurance markets, rather than repeal the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Obamacare....

The Righteous Good Christian Cruz preaches screw thy neighbor.

Another dominionist asshole. I'll take Trump over him any day.

I think Cruz being a lib/right type would set basic rules for the insurance market and then safety net for poor. It would work, I don't buy into the hysterical political banter about doom.

I'd rather see single payer because I think it's cheaper, more efficient, easier to regulate and more likely to keep costs down in the long run. Medicare just works.

I see no warrant in Scripture for even honest usury between fellow countrymen (cf Deuteronomy 23:19-20), much less a government subsidized usury cartel whereby the poorer are looted by the richer via the extension of what is, in essence, the PUBLIC'S CREDIT but for private gain.

Now it may well be that Christians are often the more so-called creditworthy of the public's credit and have gotten rich thereby but in principle, at least, Christians should oppose welfare for the rich.

Then who is FOR welfare for the rich? I could name names but in general they are so-called Progressives, not Christians.

Right, well Andrew I think the OT, being that it came from a Bronze Age culture, is not applicable to a modern secular economy/government. Just my opinion. And I think any candidate who uses the OT as a basis for their policy is a dominionist asshole. Progressive or otherwise.

"Just my opinion"

It's not just your opinion that's what the Lord and Paul taught in the NT...

And people like AA remain ignorant of this...

The Lord taught that Christians should love one another.

So how does supporting a system that systematically loots poorer Christians constitute love? Why do you call Him Lord then?

Speaking of ignorance have you never read:

All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

Or this warning wrt Paul's writings?

and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness, but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. 2 Peter 3:15-18

If unprincipled doesn't apply to you Franko then I know nothing more apt that does.

Maybe they'll mail some more tea bags to their congressmen.

I'd appreciate some examples, please, since I don't follow Cruz or any other politician?

But my educated guess is that Cruz and others IGNORE the OT (and NT too) wrt social justice* and overemphasize sexual sins as if David and Solomon did not have many wives.

So I'd say the problem is with Calvin and his followers, not the OT.

That said, NO ONE could/can keep the Old Testament Law because we are all naturally sinners and need to be born again through belief in Christ. And once we are born again then we are no longer bound by the specifics of the OT Law but are nevertheless bound by its moral imperative - that we love one another.

*e.g. a ban on usury between fellow Hebrews, periodic debt forgiveness, etc.
