China Warns Trump — "We Will Prevent A North Korea Regime Change"

In a troubling repudiation of President Donald Trump’s demands that Beijing do more to rein in its bellicose neighbor, Beijing, through the state-owned media, cautioned the US president on Friday that it would intervene (militarily) on North Korea’s behalf if the US and South Korea launch a preemptive strike to “overthrow the North Korean regime,” according to a statement in the influential state-run newspaper Global Times.

"If the U.S. and South Korea carry out strikes and try to overthrow the North Korean regime and change the political pattern of the Korean Peninsula, China will prevent them from doing so," it said.
At the same time, the Chinese regime made it clear that its preferred outcome would be a continuation of the status quo, warning Kim Jong Un that it would "remain neutral if North Korea were to strike first." The article, cited by Rueters, reiterated calls for a diplomatic solution....
North Korea is China's Ukraine.

This is crazy, if the US had left NK alone they wouldn't have harmed anyone because they were too small to have wanted to cause any trouble. It was just a defence system. When General Wesley Clark was asked why was the US going to take out Iraq, Libya, Syria and when Iran, he said, ' I don't know, perhaps they have nothing else better to do'.

It doesn't help that Kim Jing Un looks the way he does with that funny hair cut (although it is kind of fashionable among some of the young) and that his army goose steps. The US have the perfect enemy, but the real Dr No, the evil behind the scenes, are the Western ruling elite.

So China is saying we'll defend you, but we won't offend for you. That's a very very potent Asian message that is telling Kimmie to cut it out, and stop the shit disturbing. The point being that China wants harmony. Harmony is an Asian concept and deep value that westerners have no real grasp of, other than conceptually. You get zero respect for disrupting the harmony.

We understand harmony as if you give me what I want then we can have harmony, and ideally vice versa.

For Asians, Chinese in particular, it colors everything they do from Confucious, Sun-Tzu, and the I Ching on down. Paying respect to the ancestors. Respecting the forces and seasons of nature (what Mao learned when his agricultural efficiencies failed). Respecting your parents. Conducting business. Eating: you never ever take the last morsel on the communal plate, the rituals are byzantine to get rid of it; you serve others before you serve yourself.

It even applies to social situations, which I had to learn to my great chagrin and embarrassment. My big mouth did me no fucking good. My opinions were not welcomed if I offended anyone in the room. Grandfather had to take me aside and send in his nephews to explain what I didn’t know.

Conversely, China is saying to the US, strike preemptively and we have NK's back.

China is attaching a cost to whoever strikes first, because China wants a negotiated solution, as does Russia and anyone else that is sane.

Exactly. I’m sure they see Trump as an American Kim Jong Un.

And the Japanese.

All Japanese born around the end of WWII and afterward have no clue what the Japanese did to the Chinese and Koreans--which made the holocaust seem like a Friday night frat house hazing--during the war because the history is banned in Japan. They may have relaxed the rule since 2003/4, but it was in effect until then.

I read how the American Empire has put a stop to Japan's imperialism. Apparently they would love to get back to their old ways. In yin and Yan there is always a little bit of good in evil and always a little of evil in good. The British Empire was pretty brutal but they stopped suttee in India, a diabolical practice.

Not just the Chinese.
