How will we avoid an ai-general_tech-enabled totalitarian future? Seems possible that all communications, movements, and purchases will be monitored and recorded with ai predicting future crimes and then fmri style machines reading thoughts. So thought crime will be a real literal thing. Even thinking thoughts not in agreement with the reigning ideology could mean trouble.. the tech is already half way there with all text messages, phone calls and most purchases being or close to being recorded, and recordings of brain wave activity already can be used to control external devices.
Can see it now. AI directs drones disappear or assassinate people for even thinking about harboring some thoughts because "terrorism," which equates with opposing the prevailing ideology and political order.
