Inessa Sinchougova — Busted: Americans supply Europe with gas, which they buy in Russia

American capitalism at its "best."
The United States supplies fuel to the liquefied gas terminal in Belgium's Antwerp, which is purchased in Russia. This story was initially reported by TASS, the journalists of which were investigating activities of offshore companies.

It turned out that the liquefied gas arriving in Antwerp is delivered by four tankers, which belong to the Navigator Holdings company registered in the Marshall Islands.

Almost one third (31%) of Navigator Holdings shares belong to US Secretary of Commerce, Wilbur Ross.

The company buys gas from the Russian "Sibur" in the port of Ust-Luga.

The investigation confirms the opinion of the Russian ambassador to the EU, Vladimir Chizhov, that it is "naive to count on the arrival of liquefied gas from the United States in the terminals of Europe."

The terminals for liquefied gas in Europe were created to reduce the dependence of the EU countries on the export of fuel through Russian pipelines. However, the gas comes to the terminals not from the USA, but from the nearest source - Russia, at a higher price than for pipeline transportation.…

Well Ross isn’t going to shut off the valve if something doesn’t go his way politically... that’s the big difference...

The US doesn't use its economic power when things don't go its way politically? Really?

Not if the US imposes sanctions.

Putin is government. Sanctions are imposed by the US government.

Russian state firms follow Putin's order. US and allied firms follow sanctions imposed by the US government.

Matt Franko said...

The sanctions allow for fulfillment of existing orders

"US and allied firms follow sanctions imposed by the US government."

Sometimes. Sometimes not.

It's up to the US government. The US government can allow firms to fulfill existing order in order not to affect the firms current operations. It has zip to do with honoring legal contracts. And if the US government says no, it's no.

The point of the LNG terminal is that it can come from anywhere. Russia is fine for supply until it isn't, when European expansionism creates war again, then it can come from US, Dubai, Australia even to avoid Russian retaliation for European aggression.

Things will get better for Russia when Putin finally retires and they put a younger person in there without all the Soviet mental baggage you get with a Putin...

This LNG channel is to keep them honest which is required after they reneged in 2006 when gas went to $13 USD zombie dollars and they just couldn’t help themselves...

So this article you posted is fake news and just Russia propaganda probably...
