Nehlen (Ayn Rand fan-boy Ryan's nemesis and btw increasingly cozy with alt-right) makes an interesting observation:

Picked up by alt-right on cue:

Libertarians are principled so there's hope for them - unlike, I've discovered, "pragmatic" Progressives.

Ironically, Progressives are hopelessly conservative when it comes to preserving privileges for usury cartels.

"borrowing from the Chinese!" sounds reasonable...

"we're going to become another Greece!" sounds reasonable...

"we're borrowing from our grandchildren!" sounds reasonable...

"the debt has to be paid back!" sounds reasonable...

etc...

Reason doesnt cut it...

An argument is sound if and only if the premises are true and the form is valid. Then, the conclusion follows.

This is the fundamental takeaway in Logic 101. If you get that, you pass the course.

Apparently, a lot of people never took Logic 101, flunked it, or forgot the essential point of it.
