Let’s not deny it; we’re facing fascism — Richard Murphy

Richard Murphy says out loud for all to hear what a lot of people are thinking to themselves and whispering about. This is starting to evoke memories of the 1930's. "Antifa" (antifascism) has been saying this for some time and has been marginalized for it. Now it is becoming an issue.

There is a tendency to blame the president and his administration for this, that that would be incorrect given the history. This doesn't happen overnight and has been a long time in the building. Arguably, it began before the undertaking of "the great experiment," and in my own memory it was clear by the Nixon era, brought to the fore by the Civil Rights Movement under the leadership of Dr. Martin Luther King.

Richard Murphy is a twit. He starts by complaining that Trump got elected on the basis of a series of lies. I have news for him: the large majority of politicians are professional liars. Tony Blair's nick name was "B.Liar".

Second, Murphy complains about Trump being elected on a "populist" platform. Well that's more or less what democracy is!!! In a democracy the politicians to win elections are the ones whose policies (aka lies) are "popular" with the people.

Third, Murphy keeps very quiet about the fact that one of the main elements of fascism is suppression of free speech: and it's the political left that tends to oppose free speech, not the political right.

Sorry Ralph, I’m calling BS on your free speech claim. Who is it that wants to burn books they find offensive? The RIGHT! Who is it that wants to make flag burning a capital offense? The RIGHT! The left mostly tries to use mass outrage to shame vile opinions NOT govt censorship. The right has always mis interpreted the first amendment
Sure the right supports assholes shouting down/insulting people they have a political beef with .... it’s their M O. One thing you can always count on the right to do .......punch down.
